Update: Patriot Missile deployment. Remember Blair’s “sexed up” WMD lies?

The Foreign Ministers of NATO have officially given the go-ahead to the Patriot deployment to “defend Turkey.” The next step is to work out the technical details, Sec-Gen Rasmussen said. All three nations with Patriots–Germany, the Netherlands, and the U.S.–will supply batteries. Rasmussen was at pains to say this had nothing to do with a no-fly zone, but also made reference repeatedly in his press conference to the alleged threat of chemical weapons from Syria.
When asked by a reporter about the source for the report of the danger of chemical weapons being used by Syria, including an allusion to the phony reports of WMD in the buildup to the Iraq war, Rasmussen refused to be more specific, and simply said that the reports were credible enough to allow all 28 members of NATO to be concerned about the possible deployment of chemical weapons.
